Who cares in Worcestershire?

Worcester Citizens Advice Bureau & Worcester Housing & Benefits Advice Centre (WHABAC) merged on 1st April 2009. Since the merger the organisation has delivered a comprehensive advice service at our Hopmarket office and the Old Glove Factory at 13A Lowesmoor. For the service to be more accessible to the whole community we also offer advice services at various locations in Worcestershire & Herefordshire. The advice is delivered by both volunteers and paid staff. We provide • Information • Advice • Guidance • Practical assistance to help manage problems • Representation • Negotiation Generalist Advice We provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice. The service is delivered by trained Volunteer Advisers: people from the community, working for the community. Our advice covers a large range of key issues within society. Advisers are trained to give a holistic and personal advice service to all our clients. This means we do not just look at the presented problem but underlying factors as well. We look to empower clients to resolve their own problems. If clients cannot do this we offer practical assistance. We offer advice information on the following areas: • Consumer problems • Debt • Discrimination and harassment • Employment • Family and relationships • Housing and Homelessness • Illness and disability • Immigration • Legal matters • Welfare benefits (and much more) Specialist Advice We also employ specialist caseworkers who can give assistance and advice to people who qualify for legal aid in the areas of housing, welfare benefits & debt law. If you don’t think you qualify for legal aid, don’t worry. As well as our generalist advisers we also have other specialist advisers funded by other projects and you might qualify for assistance under these alternative schemes.
